Microsoft is Working On a Top Secret Project Europe For Universal Apps
According to recent reports, It Looks like Microsoft is working on a secret Project Europe, another one of its initiatives for Windows 10 developers and Universal apps. We already know about Project Astoria, Project Islandwood, Project Westminster and Project Centennial.
Efforts to port Android apps, iOS apps, web application and classic desktop software programs respectively to the Universal Windows Platform — better known as UWP. And it is entirely possible that Project Europe is another such bridge.
The company spilled the beans at the Barcelona stop of the international BUILD Tour, where this top secret project was teased:
Attendees were asked what they think it is, with Microsoft offering two choices. One, expansion plans for Azure data centers or a secret UWP project. It obviously turned out to be the latter, even though the software titan is not divulging any more details on this initiative.
Word is that this might either be something that allows developers to port their Swift code to Microsoft’s operating platform, or even a revamped Astoria that would allow developers to port their Java code, instead of simply installing the Android APK on a Windows 10 device.
More information on this Windows 10 app effort is likely to be offered in the coming weeks and months. But Redmond certainly is excited about it, and wants others to be too.Keeping in mind this timely tease.
