Windows 10 Mobile build 10572 brings improved battery life, Cortana, skype & Much more
Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10572, and with it comes new Cortana improvements better battery life all new maps & storage manager & more. In this new build, Cortana can help keep track of your leisure time — specifically with movie and event reminders. Cortana can also book and track an Uber ride directly from your smartphone for those times where you really need a ride.
Battery Life & Cortana :
While many of the changes from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile have been impressive, unfortunately battery life has not been one of them. However Microsoft has been working to improve battery life especially in the latest builds. In a tweet from Gabe Aul, he notes that you should see better battery life in build 10572, and more on the way:
“With this improvement, you can book an Uber any time you want by saying ‘Book an Uber’ and Cortana will get you a ride immediately. You can even take an Uber to the airport, simply say ‘Book an Uber to SeaTac airport,’ or any other airport recognized by Bing that allows Uber, and have Cortana book you a ride to Seattle-Tacoma airport, JFK, ATL or wherever your travels take you,” Microsoft explained in an official blog post.
Today’s mobile update brings some more small improvements to skype & Photo apps :
- Integration through the Messaging, Phone and Skype video universal Windows apps
- Messaging now supports animated GIF’s (FINALLY!)
- Individual message searches
- Phone app can now search contacts from Call History
Moving onto other improvements, the Photo app picked up some minor additions to its functionality. Users will should now notice:
- The ability to mark local photos as favorites and have them shuffle on the Live Tile.
- Pinch to zoom has been improved
- Display of file information has been improved
- New launch points for rich editing have been included
- Additional context menus (press and hold on a photo) have been added
New storage and maps management :
This latest build has also made some improvements to the way storage is handled with a new user experience that creates a more consistent visual style between mobile and PC. The option to install apps directly onto an SD card or USB storage device has also been enabled now on both mobile and PC.
Another feature added with Windows 10 Mobile build 10572 is the new ability to save offline maps to an SD card, which may be useful for owners of mobile devices with limited memory or a significant amount of memory already being used by other files and apps on their hardware.
